– If someone dies at home
- Call their nearest relative (if that is not you)
- Call their GP surgery, who will arrange for a doctor or nurse to verify the death.

– If someone dies in hospital

– If someone dies unexpectedly
- If you are with them, call 999
- Call their nearest relative (if that is not you)

Registering the Death
– You will be contacted when the Medical Examiner or Coroner have notified the Registrar of the cause of death.
– Make an appointment with the Register Office where you will be provided with
- A certificate for burial or cremation (Green Form) which should be passed to Smiths Funeral Services
- A unique code, so that you can use the Tell Us Once service
- A death certificate
